1) Am I Eligible for Permanent Residency in Singapore?

The following categories of foreigners are eligible to apply for Permanent Residence:

(a) Spouse and unmarried children (below 21 years old) of a Singapore Citizen (SC) / Singapore Permanent Resident (SPR) 

(b) Aged Parents of a SC 
(c) Employment Pass / S Pass holders  
(d) Investors  
under the Global Investor Program (GIP)

(e) Students under a valid Student Pass

2) How Do I Apply for Singapore Permanent Residency?

You are required to prepare your eApplication prior to assessing the ICA PR Submission Portal.

Once there, you will have to complete a 14-page application form prior to uploading your compulsory documents to the online system. After submitting your compulsory documents, make payment of S$100 per applicant to ICA, and you have successfully submitted the application.

It is important to note that you can also submit relevant supporting documents to support your application after uploading your compulsory documents to increase your chances of success. You can request for a list of accepted supporting documents by submitting a contact form here.

3) How Long is the Entire Application Process?

After you have submitted your documents to the ICA, the application can take between three to six months to process. You may check your application status on iEnquiry. The ICA will also inform you via mail on the outcome of your application.

5) Can I Appeal Against a Rejected Application?

If your application is rejected, you may submit an appeal to the ICA via email (ICA_PR@ICA.GOV.SG) or via walk-in at the Permanent Residency department (Level 5) of the ICA building and submit it at the reception counter. Appeals stand a low chance of overturning the initial application verdict, but there have been instances where a submitted appeal resulted in a successful reconsideration of the application.

10) Can I apply for PR if I am holding a Work Permit (WP)?

Unfortunately not, however, you may explore options with your employer to upgrade your work pass if you intend to apply for PR.

11) Can I include my family in my PR application?

You may include your family in your application if they are holding on to a Dependant Pass (DP), Long-term Visit Pass (LTVP), S Pass or Employment Pass (EP) with a valid FIN number. 

12) Does having shares in a local company increase my chances of PR success?

One of the key factors that is vital in an application is the level of integration the applicant has with Singapore's society or economy. Owning shares in a local company may increase your chances of success, especially if you have been a long-term investor.
